Are you going to tear my manuscript apart?
Anyone who does this shouldn't be doing the job. If you've reached the level where you're looking for someone to go over your work, you ARE a good writer. If something can be improved upon, I'll point it out and make kind suggestions. You can take them/leave them as you know your baby best!
What kinds of files do you accept?
I've worked on word docs, google docs, and pdf files. Your choice!
My word count is long (or short). Will you still alpha read my manuscript?
Of course! I've read from 6K to 115K and beyond! I'm happy to help any way that I can.
What will I get in return?
I will send back to you a Microsoft Word document with tracked changes (you can open this in Google Docs as well) or a pdf file with highlighted comments. I will also go over some thoughts on your manuscript in a message back to you.
What do you look for when you proofread?
I can pick out small details, such as a white car in chapter 1 turning into a red car in chapter 7. I also look for basic editing errors, autocorrect mistakes, and repeat words. Please note, at this level you should have a final or near-final draft.
What subgenres do you read?
I read almost any romance subgenres, but I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the bully tropes, or anything with questionable consent.
I'm not finished with my manuscript. Will you still read it?
Of course! Sometimes feedback before you're finished can change the entire direction of where the story is going.
