A manuscript evaluation (also called a critique or editorial assessment), is a great place to start. It's especially valuable for newer authors who want general feedback and guidance on improving the story.
I'll read your book carefully, assessing its strengths/weaknesses and the big-picture elements: structure, POV, characters, plot, prose/dialogue, setting/worldbuilding, theme, and genre.
You'll receive an editorial letter containing analysis, explanations of core concepts, solutions, and next steps for revision. (5-20 pages, depending on manuscript length and package.)
Premium package: includes extra analysis, solutions, or skill-teaching, along with comments/reactions inside the manuscript.
Budget package: for self-publishers with limited funds; a quick sanity check that can help you avoid negative reviews. I analyze only the beginning hook, selected scenes, prose, dialogue, and genre. Not for full character or plot analysis.

A manuscript evaluation is a report on big-picture elements; it’s especially valuable for new writers & new manuscripts. Developmental editing digs further into the storytelling details at the scene & paragraph levels. Line editing focuses on wording, and copy editing on the finishing touches.
Do you use AI tools for manuscript evaluations?
I do NOT use AI tools to evaluate your manuscript, generate solutions, or write your editorial report. I MAY use AI tools for tasks like creating visualizations or scene charts based on notes I make while reading. Your manuscript is NOT uploaded to online AI tools unless you specifically request it.
What file types do you accept?
Submitted files should be in Microsoft Word format (.docx or .doc) or can be converted to .docx from many other programs, including Google Docs, Pages, OpenOffice/LibreOffice, and Scrivener formats. If you need help with file conversion, I’m more than happy to help!
What is a revision?
Request a revision if the delivery missed something you needed feedback on. I want to make sure you have everything you need to move your book to the next stage. Requests for work outside the original order scope may still be possible with an extra fee, so don’t be afraid to ask!
Do you use Word's track changes feature?
Yes, if your order includes manuscript annotations (inline comments or edits), I use Word’s change tracking (also viewable in Google Docs & LibreOffice). You’ll see changes, respond to comments, and accept/reject changes one at a time or in bulk.
