You've spent months getting your vision into words; now it's my turn to polish them from a manuscript to a book!
I professionally beta read manuscripts for a top literary agency for nearly two years and earned my B.A. in Creative Writing. I specialize in young adult and middle grade stories, and I want to help your story get on those coveted bookshelves.
What I will do for beta reading:
- Provide feedback on the plot (what I enjoy, what doesn't make sense)
- Review characters for believability
- Analyze the pacing, setting, POV, voice, and dialogue
- Provide overall thoughts
These reviews will be written down in a report that I will send to you, along with corresponding page numbers of any large overlying inconsistencies or change in style. I don't

How many manuscripts did you beta read for your agency internship?
From 2015 to 2016, I read 71 manuscripts (56 were Young Adult).
Are you published?
I am published in the poetry anthology Hometown, Texas, compiled by 2010 Texas Poet Laureate Karla K. Morton. I also published a short story and an ethnographic journalism piece while in college with my university's literary magazine, Borderzine.
Is English your native language?
Yes! I was born and raised in Texas, USA and still reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Is there any sub-genre of Young Adult you don't beta read for?
At this time, I will not beta read horror manuscripts. I'm too scared to even look at a Stephen King book cover.
What are trigger warnings you won't work with?
As of this time, I will not work with any manuscript that includes explicit scenes with animal abuse, child abuse, or r*pe. The mention of past events is acceptable, but if you have anything that includes these topics as scenes played out on the page, I am NOT the reader for your manuscript.
