FAQ
1.What file formats can you work with?
I can work with PDF, DWG, DWF, RVT (Revit), and scanned drawings. If your file is in another format, message me before ordering and I'll confirm compatibility.
2. Do I need to provide drawings to get an estimate?
Yes, I need at least basic architectural or construction drawings (even preliminary/sketch-level plans work) to produce an accurate takeoff. Rough sketches with dimensions can work for smaller Basic-package jobs.
3. Which software do you use for takeoffs?
I use PlanSwift, Bluebeam Revu, and CostX for takeoffs, along with AutoCAD and Revit for drawing review, and Excel/MS Project for reporting and scheduling.
4. Can you estimate projects outside the US/UK (different currencies or unit systems)?
Yes. I can prepare estimates in metric or imperial units and adjust currency based on your local market, provided you share relevant regional rate data or your preferred unit rates.
5. What types of projects do you handle?
Residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and industrial projects — from single homes to multi-story developments and fit-outs.
6. What's the difference between a Quantity Takeoff and a BOQ?
A Quantity Takeoff (QTO) measures and lists the quantities of materials/work items. A Bill of Quantities (BOQ) organizes those quantities with descriptions, units, and rates into a structured document typically used for tendering or budgeting.
7.Do you handle Variation Orders (VOs)?
Yes, VO analysis and pricing is included in the Premium package, and can be added as an extra to other packages.
8. Can you help with tender submissions?
Yes, I prepare tender-ready estimation packages including BOQs and cost breakdowns formatted for submission to clients or main contractors.
