Will my site go down during the migration?
That's the whole point of doing it in the right order. I build and test the new copy first, and only then point the domain across. Most people see no interruption at all.
Will I lose any content posts or images?
No. Everything comes over, including the database, media library, users, plugins, themes and settings. I check it against the old site before we switch.
Can you move my WooCommerce store with the orders?
Yes, on Premium, or add the WooCommerce extra. Products, orders, customers and coupons all come across and I verify the counts on both sides before go live.
I'm changing to a new domain. Do links break?
Not if it's done properly. I update the URLs across the database and set up redirects so your old links and your search rankings keep working.
Can you move a site from localhost or staging to live?
Yes, and the reverse too. Local to live, live to staging, staging to live, all fine.
Do I need to buy hosting first?
Yes, have the new hosting ready before you order. If you're not sure what to get, message me and I'll point you at something that fits your site.
Can you handle the DNS and nameservers?
Yes, if you give me registrar access. If your company handles DNS internally I'll send you the exact records to set.
Will my emails keep working?
If your email is on the same host, tell me before we start so I plan around it. Getting this wrong is the usual way people lose mail during a move, so I check it every time.
How long does propagation take?
Usually a few hours, sometimes up to 24 or 48. That part is out of my hands, but during it visitors still reach a working site.
What happens to the old site?
It stays exactly as it is until you confirm the new one is good. Delete it whenever you're ready, not before.
