I will offload vicidial cluster recordings to dedicated archive server with rsync
VICIdial, Asterisk and VoIP Call Center Expert
About this Gig
Is your Vicidial dialer running out of disk space from call recordings?
In cluster setups, each telephony server stores recordings locally. Disks fill fast and recordings are at risk if a dialer is rebuilt or terminated.
I setup a dedicated VICIdial archive server that centralizes recordings from one or multiple cluster dialer nodes into one central location.
WHAT I SETUP:
Linux archive server with scalable storage planning
Software RAID and disk layout (if required)
Rsync or scheduled sync from dialer monitorDONE paths
Multi-server cluster recording consolidation
Recording path mapping for admin search and retrieval
Retention folders by date, campaign, or server
Mount points, hardening, and storage verification
NFS guidance for Vicidial playback (optional)
IDEAL FOR:
Vicidial clusters with multiple dialer nodes
Long-term retention when dialer storage is not enough
Teams rebuilding dialers but keeping recordings safe
BEFORE YOU ORDER:
1. How many dialer servers do you have?
2. Daily recording volume (GB/day)?
3. Retention period needed?
4. Archive only, or playback from Vicidial admin?
5. VPS, dedicated, or NAS/S3 target?

FAQ
Why not store recordings on the dialer server?
Dialer disks fill quickly, hurt performance, and recordings can be lost if the dialer is rebuilt or terminated. A separate archive keeps recordings safe and scalable.
Can one archive server collect recordings from multiple cluster dialers?
Yes. I configure scheduled sync (rsync/cron) from each telephony node into one central archive with organized folder structure.
If my dialer server is deleted or replaced, will recordings remain?
Yes, that is the main purpose. Recordings stored on the archive server remain independent of the live dialer.
Do you support rsync, NFS, or NAS/S3-style offload?
Yes. I can setup rsync-based offload and advise on NFS/NAS/S3-style archival depending on your infrastructure.
Will Vicidial admin still find/play recordings after offload?
I configure paths and structure so recordings remain accessible based on your setup (local archive, NFS mount, or documented retrieval workflow).
What server specs do I need for the archive?
Archive servers need large storage, not high CPU. Share your daily recording volume and retention period and I will recommend disk size and layout.
