FAQ
What is bookkeeping cleanup?
Cleanup corrects problems in bookkeeping records that already exist. This may include misclassified or duplicate transactions, posting errors, unreconciled accounts, Chart of Accounts problems, and other supported bookkeeping errors.
How do I know if my books need cleanup?
Cleanup may be appropriate if your accounts do not reconcile, balances appear incorrect, transactions are duplicated or misclassified, your previous bookkeeper left problems, or your accountant has asked for corrections before proceeding.
What counts as a cleanup transaction?
A cleanup transaction is an existing bookkeeping transaction that requires review and corrective work within the approved project scope. Your package limit applies to the number of transactions being reviewed and corrected.
What if I have more than 50 transactions?
Contact me before ordering. I will review the project size and scope and provide a fixed-price custom offer. Additional work will not begin until the custom price and scope are approved.
Do you work with QuickBooks Online?
Yes. QuickBooks Online cleanup can include transaction corrections, reconciliation corrections, Chart of Accounts organization, supported balance corrections, and other bookkeeping cleanup within the approved scope.
Do I need to know what is wrong before ordering?
No. Tell me what concerns you about the books and provide the available records. I will review the bookkeeping within the purchased scope. If the project is larger or materially different from the package ordered, I will identify that before additional work begins.
What records will you need?
Typically I need access to the bookkeeping records plus applicable bank, credit card, loan, or processor statements. General Ledger, financial reports, reconciliation reports, receipts, invoices, and accountant adjustments may also be needed.
Can you correct bank and credit card reconciliations?
Yes. Review and correction of bank and credit card reconciliations may be included when supported by the available statements and records and when the work falls within the approved cleanup scope.
Can you fix my Chart of Accounts?
Yes. I can review and reorganize the Chart of Accounts where needed as part of the cleanup. Changes must be supported by the bookkeeping records and remain within the scope of the project.
What happens if records are missing?
I will correct only what the available records can support. Missing documentation may leave some items unresolved. If the missing records mean the books must be reconstructed rather than cleaned up, the project falls outside this Gig's normal scope.
