Why Docker Swarm instead of a simple Docker Compose?
Docker Compose is great for a single server but has no failover. If the server crashes, n8n stops. Docker Swarm coordinates multiple servers (a "cluster") to ensure your service is always running (High Availability) and makes it easy to scale.
Why do I need 3 servers for the Standard/Premium package?
Docker Swarm needs a "quorum" of managers to avoid a "split-brain" scenario and provide true High Availability. A 3-node cluster is the minimum and standard industry practice for a reliable HA setup.
Do you provide the servers (VPS)?
No, you must provide the servers. I can recommend providers like DigitalOcean, or AWS EC2 if you need help choosing.
Why do I need an external database (Postgres) in the Premium package?
By default, n8n uses an SQLite database, which is fine for small projects. For production use with many workflows, a robust database like PostgreSQL is essential for performance, data integrity, and scalability.
