Hi! My name is Ben Whyte, and I'm an amateur genealogist and professional data analyst with over five years of experience researching family histories for myself and other.
I have access to many online records and newspapers databases across North America and Europe that can help piece together your family's history. Through DNA testing websites such as Ancestry, 23andMe, and MyHeritage, I have helped adopted individuals identify or significantly narrow the search for their biological parents, and I have solved unknown paternity cases back to the early 1800's through statistical analysis.
I can also provide specialized local research in Ontario, Canada, particularly former Victoria County (Kawartha Lakes) - but have extensive experience with records research in Canada, the US, UK, and Ireland.

Can I see the type of research you do/have done?

Do I need to take a DNA test to have research done?
No! I can complete genealogical records research as long as you provide accurate names, birth date/place, death date/place of a deceased ancestor, and I can work backwards from there. However - with a DNA test, I can further prove that your assumed ancestors are indeed related.
What records do you use to help build out a family tree?
Publicly available census, birth, marriage and death records. Land and probate records. Newspaper articles. I have access to various public and paid databases for records in Canada, the US, UK, Ireland and around the world.
Can you identify the biological parents of an adopted person?
Sometimes, but not always. If you have taken a DNA test with a major company (Ancestry, 23andMe, MyHeritage), it is possible to significantly narrow the search for biological parents down to a group of cousins, siblings or sometimes down to one person. Depends largely on who else has tested!
