About this Gig
I am a thorough, versatile editor who will work together with you to make your story the best it can be. I will respect your voice as an author while ensuring that your writing is correct in terms of spelling and grammar and other mechanics. I will tell you what you did well in addition to what needs a bit more work.
All projects start at 1,000 words.
I can work with the following fiction genres:

I don't work with romance or horror.
I do not accept AI-generated work.
You will receive one copy of the edited manuscript with all changes tracked after the first pass and one with all changes accepted after the final pass.

What's the difference between proofreading, copy editing, and line editing?
Proofreading only checks for mechanical errors in the writing. Copy editing is also focused on language mechanics, but also includes queries about content, tone, style, and flow. Line editing includes proofreading and copy editing and also suggests changes to tone, style, and flow.
How do you make changes and provide feedback?
I use track changes to make direct edits to the text. I also use comments to ask questions and to explain why I made some edits. Premium projects include a memo giving detailed feedback and suggestions for improvements.
Can you format my book?
Yes, I also do formatting for both e-books and print books. Please see my formating gig for more information.
Will you tell anyone else about my project?
No. I won't discuss your book with anyone until it is published, and I won't share the edited manuscript with anyone without your express written permission.
Do you acquire any copyright to my project?
Once I am paid in full for the project, any copyright I may have developed passes wholly to you. This includes any changes or additions you might make based on my suggestions.
Why don't you work with romance, horror, or AI-generated work?
I don't work with romance or horror because I don't read those genres and so am not qualified to edit them. I don't work with AI-generated work because I prefer to work with writing by actual humans only, and I don't like that AI is trained on others' work without permission or compensation.
