About this gig
Are you looking for a richly detailed and professionally executed illustration for your album cover? Something unusual that will stand out on the record store shelf? I've always been completely engrossed in all kinds of music and the imagery that accompanies it. I'm fascinated by the way that the right image can elevate an album of songs and draw people to it. As a fan of many genres, from metal to folk to jazz and many more, I understand the visual cues that accompany them, and I see these styles as a creative opportunity to explore.
I have a wide skill set that encompasses pen and ink drawing, watercolor, screen printing, mixed-media, and digital editing and manipulation. Choosing the right medium is an important step in finding the perfect image for your music. I'm a problem solver who will leave no stone unturned in the design process, and I am flexible, easy to work with, and open to your ideas.
The tiers for this gig are based on complexity and the amount of time the drawing will require, but I can offer flexibility to accommodate your idea. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.

I have worked as an exhibiting artist, illustrator, printmaker and art educator for over two decades. Specializing in creating album covers and poster illustrations for musicians, I have been commissioned by major touring artists such as the Pixies and Blink 182. Whether working with traditional media, screen printing, or digital tools, I am always excited to work with other creatively-minded individuals to bring a vision to life. I love working with layers and textures to create expressive imagery, whether it is figurative or abstract.

FAQ
Do you want to listen to the album before you start illustrating?
Absolutely! That is an important first step in developing a concept. I can certainly design something without hearing the music first, but I prefer to let the music stir my imagination.
Can you change your style to fit my project?
Definitely. I have the versatility to apply a wide range of illustration styles, even if it's something I haven't specifically tried before.
Can you design unusual layouts?
Yes, I have made layouts in for various formats, including CD and vinyl gatefolds and cassette tapes. I understand how to edit the templates printers use to manufacture the cover, and I can help facilitate any special features you may want to include.

Björn managed to translate a pretty abstract idea to an attractive visual concept that the we could work with. In the process he was very open to trying different versions which gave us the confidence that we were on the right track, resulting in an album cover that the whole band is happy with.
