Hello there. My name is Boris and I'm a live sound engineer, drummer, music producer, currently based in Belgrade, Serbia. I specialize in live sound and music production, especially editing, mixing and mastering. I have more than 17 years of experience and i work in an acoustically treated studio with analog and digital gear. FAQ
What is a "stem"?
In the audio production world, the terms “multitracks” and “stems” are often used interchangeably. Although stems and multitracks are similar in ways, they are actually quite different. Stems are stereo recordings sourced from mixes of multiple individual tracks, such as drums, vocals, and bass.
I recorded vocals in "BandLab". What should i do to get that song mixed and mastered?
If you have finish the recording process on the website called "BandLab" you can export the stems by clicking the three stripes at the top left corner (left to BandLab name), click "Project", next "Download" and then "Tracks". Choose WAV format and download all the stems. Please send them to me.
My stems are not in sync with each other, what should i do to fix this?
If the exported stems are not in sync with each other, then they need to be exported again from the project. You need to set the starting and ending marker and export between those markers. All the stems need to have the same starting marker so that when i import them they are sync with each other.
Can i send you a ProTools or Logic session?
That would be a NO. I don't use these softwares and i can not open them. You need to export all the stems and send them to me in WAV format with the same starting marker.
How do I send the files to you?
You can use the attachment in the inbox messages, or the easiest way is to upload all the files to wetransfer.com (via download link) and paste the link in our inbox chat. You can also use Dropbox and share the folder via download link as well.
What format should the audio files be?
The best format is WAV format (Aiff for mac users) and you can use the same bit rate and sample rate as when you recorded the files. All are acceptable. Mp3 files are lower quality but if that is the only option that is fine. M4a Is not acceptable.
