Can you train a YOLO model if my dataset has fewer than 500 images?
Yes. I apply data augmentation techniques including flipping, cropping, brightness variation, and mosaic augmentation to artificially expand small datasets. For very small datasets (under 200 images), I recommend transfer learning from a pretrained YOLO backbone, which I include as standard practice
What format do you need my images and labels in before we start?
I accept raw unannotated images, COCO JSON, Pascal VOC XML, or YOLO TXT format. If your images are not yet labeled, I can annotate them as an add-on using Robo flow or CVAT. I also accept video files and will extract frames and label them for training.
Will the trained model run on my laptop or does it need a cloud server?
It depends on your speed requirements. YOLO models can run on CPU for basic detection tasks on a standard laptop. For real-time video at 30+ FPS, a GPU is recommended. I can also export the model to ONNX or TensorRT format optimized for edge devices like Jetson Nano or Raspberry Pi 5.
