Like title said i will make your little VPS/VDS or dedicated server running several desktop applications.
Yup, on the screenshot you can see i already install and running some applications on a very little VPS with 96 MB RAM.
With this you will doesn't always need windows server anymore, you can do some tasks like on the windows server such as remote upload, anonimity browsing and others.
Here is the list of my installed applications on the 96 MB RAM :
-VNC
-Web Browser : Fully support HTML 5 (flash will require more memory)
-FTP : FTP client, SFTP client
-Squid Proxy : Transparent proxy to bypass ISP restrictions
If you have bigger VPS/VDS or dedicated server then we can run more others applications.
I will do all of that's for only 5 $, you can lot saving your costs rather than buying a windows server
