We're a down-to-earth mother-daughter duo with extensive experience researching across Germany (former & current territories), Poland, Hungary (Austro-Hungarian empire) and the USA.
We've done ~15 years of research into our own ancestry and our earliest records date to the 1600s, spanning Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish communities.
What differentiates us is that we can read (old) German script and are familiar with where many documents are today - whether online, local / regional archives or German / Polish registry offices. Mom is a native German who understands historical contexts & deciphers scripts while daughter is a speedy records wizz - a terrific combo! Simply put, we really enjoy what we do.
We are familiar with numerous databases and platforms e.g. Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Geneanet, Archeon, Szukajwarchiwach, Geneteka Genealodzy

FAQ
Do we only conduct online / digital research?
Yes - they are many, many repositories online that we are familiar with - e.g. Ancestry, FamilySearch, 23andMe platforms as well as region-specific platforms (e.g. Szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl, Geneteka.Genealodzy.pl, Silus Radicum.pl).
Can we conduct research in German?
Yes, of course!
What happens if we can't find any records or information on my ancestor(s)?
It's important to message us in advance of who / what you are looking for. Sometimes records in these regions don't exist for a variety of reasons (particularly WW2, theft / loss, flooding, lack of digitization). If this is the case, we'll provide you with suggestions and tips to work around this.
I need help with documentation only found in the Polish State archives. Can we help?
We are familiar with submitting records requests to the Polish State archives (Archiwum Państwowe). We can prepare requests on your behalf and advise what to do, but you will need to send off any requests as processing times vary and records are subject to availability.
Will we send my all documentation that we find on your ancestor(s)?
Yes - subject to availability, we will send you everything that I find in .jpg format. Where a record collection has been found and is subject to restrictions, we will advise on how to obtain this record, if possible.
What do my outputs look like - do I receive a report?
We summarise the results found in a Word document. We will detail the steps taken, the results found, any useful historical context, as well as suggestions for next steps. This will be accompanied by any supporting documents as well.
Are there restrictions / limitations on our work?
Restrictions / limitations include: we generally can't search for living relatives, sometimes records don't exist anymore (but we'll suggest if there are ways around this). We also don't visit any archives in person (but much can be done and requested online!)
