FAQ
Do you do Shopify and Amazon bookkeeping in QuickBooks?
Yes, plus Etsy, Walmart and eBay, with Stripe, PayPal, Shopify Payments and Afterpay behind them. Every processor gets its own clearing account, so money in transit is always visible.
My books already match my bank. Isn't that enough?
Matching the bank only proves the deposits landed. It doesn't show gross sales, refunds or the fees inside each payout. Settlement based books show all of it, and still tie to the bank.
What are settlement entries?
One entry per payout cycle built from the platform's own report: gross sales credited, each fee type on its own expense line, refunds separated, and the net clearing against your bank deposit to the cent.
Do you handle inventory and COGS for ecommerce?
Yes. Purchases build inventory at landed cost with freight and duties included, and cost of goods sold posts monthly, so margins come from real product cost.
How do you track sales tax across multiple states?
Tax collected on your own site sits as a liability per registered state, marketplace collected tax stays separate, and I flag when sales into a state approach common nexus levels. Registrations remain with you or your tax service.
Can you record Amazon reserves and platform loans?
Yes. Reserves, cash advances and platform lending are tracked as their own balances, so they never inflate or drain your sales figures.
Can you do ecommerce bookkeeping cleanup for past years?
Yes. Two years of unrecorded settlements is a normal starting point: every payout entered, every month reconciled, the store brought fully current. Channels and volume set the price.
I have thousands of orders. Does that mean thousands of transactions?
No, and this matters for pricing. Orders roll into settlement entries, so a store with 3,000 monthly orders may only need a few dozen entries plus expenses. Message me your channels and I'll price it on real volume.
Are you a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor?
Yes, a Chartered Accountant and Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, with ecommerce bookkeeping as one of my main specialties.
Do you offer monthly ecommerce bookkeeping after the cleanup?
Yes. Once the store is current, I can keep it that way each month: settlements entered, inventory updated, accounts reconciled and reports delivered.
