It's a complex language with unique letter combinations, words (some don't even have an english translation) and sounds you might not be used to. Considering, you should have at least 2 lessons per week and should also practise on your own.

Yes, you are given the option of homework which includes exercises and texts to read to get used to the language in it's context and practise on your own.

It's just like learning any other language. It depends on your native language and accent (some sounds might be difficult for you to pronounce) and your commitment (how many lessons you attend per week and how much you practise on your own).
