FAQ
How much will it cost for my mix/master?
Since every mix is unique, it’s best to send me your track-out stems (or Pro Tools session) and current demo mix, along with your proposed deadline and budget. This way I can review your files, get a full scope of the project, and create a custom offer for you based on your specific needs.
What do you need to start working together?
WAV (or AAF) file stems. Pro Tools sessions are great as well. If possible, please send your current demo mix, a reference song (wav or mp3), and any comments about your vision for the final outcome. Also, good recordings, production, and sounds/samples are needed for a pro industry standard mix.
How should I export my stems?
For vocal stems: bypass all plugins (unless it's intentional production processing such as glitch, autotune, formant, etc). If possible, please send separately (without vocals): Main FX & Throw FX. For instrumental stems: Keep production plugins, but if possible, send FX (verb/delay) separately.
What genres do you mix/master?
After 2,000+ mixes spanning over 15 years, I've worked on anything and everything imaginable. All of the genres and their different sub-genres - rap, rock, country, EDM, r&b, pop, blues, latin, afrobeats, world, instrumental, etc.
What’s your mixing process?
If “Editing” is added, I start there. Otherwise, it's low-end elements, as they consume the most "voltage". Then drums and placement of melodic instruments. Before any major moves, I bring in the vocals and work everything around them, “unmasking” competing frequencies, balancing tone and dynamics.
What do you consider a revision?
Specific mixing tasks that help meet the clients vision. Examples of things included in revisions: “turn up the vocals +1dB”, “less reverb on the snare drum”, “more compression on the lead vocal”, “brighter across the whole mix”.
After I hear the mix, can I change out a stem (such as new vocals, a different bass, etc)?
Once a mix is locked in, switching an original stem/track with a new one is complicated for many reasons, such as clip editing/automation, different dynamics, frequencies, etc. Please send final stems before the mix begins. Some exceptions can be made if things match exactly, or add-on is purchased.
What’s the overall goal for your mixes and masters?
To emphasize the unique feeling and energy of a song, and to create an enhanced final product that compliments the vision of my client.
When will you respond to my message?
I can usually reply to messages within 24 hours.
How long does it take to complete a revision?
Revisions are usually sent back within 2 business days, however, more involved revisions can take longer depending on the complexity of the requests.
