Hi, I'm Charlie!
I'm an editor and writer with a Master's in literature from Oxford University. I specialise in YA and gothic/fantasy, but I will happily read any genre you have to share! I'm new to Fiverr, but since graduating last year I have worked editing books as a freelancer, some of which have so far been picked up by literary agents and are in various stages of publication. As a writer, I know sharing your writing can be nerve-wrecking, and anyone who has the courage to do so is already a hero to me. My aim as a beta reader is to help you along the path to making your already amazing piece just that bit more spectacular!
Every package will include my line-by-line thoughts and reactions, as well as a comprehensive reading report detailing any general thoughts or longer notes on your piece including any suggestions I have for improvement. As your beta reader I will give you as full a sense of the reader's perspective as possible, and show you how you can use your strengths to make your novel the best that it can be from my perspective as an editor, writer and reader.

FAQ
What is your preferred format for the document?
Google docs in an editable format, please. I also ask that you hold off resolving any suggestions or replying to comments until I have completed the job.
Do you accept pieces over/under your specified word counts?
Yes! Message me for a quote if you feel your project doesn't fit into any of the price points offered.
What information do you need before you start reading?
It helps if I know a bit about what stage you are at in your writing process, so please include this at the beginning of the document. If you would like to also include a brief synopsis or blurb with your piece, please do so as well, however, I am also happy to go in blind if you prefer.
I want you to address something specific in your reading, will you do this?
Yes! If there is a specific area that you would like my thoughts on, please let me know via message, or at the beginning of the document, and I will make sure to focus on it in my annotations. The more information you can give me the better, so don't be afraid to be detailed!
Do you use AI in your work?
No, never. All work is thoroughly completed by me, a human.
What will your reader's report include?
Basically whatever I feel needs to be addressed (good and bad)! I will begin by giving you my thoughts on specific areas as they stand in your piece (for example, plot, character development, world building etc.), as well as a full analysis including actionable improvements/changes that can be made.
Will you include sensitivity readings?
Absolutely! As a queer poc, any issues surrounding race, gender and sexuality will be addressed. However, I am not an expert on other nuanced topics (such as child abuse, parenting etc.) and so I might not pick up on any issues in your piece if it deals with them extensively.
Will you read for spelling/grammar mistakes?
I will include any spelling/grammar issues I pick up in my line annotations and in my reader's report if I feel there are obvious sustained features that affect the reading of the text as a whole.
