FAQ
Will my website have downtime during the migration?
Your current site stays live while I copy and test everything on the new host. The only switch is the DNS update at the end, which usually takes effect within a few hours. During that time visitors see either the old or the new site, not an error page.
What do you need from me to start?
Login for your old hosting, your new hosting and WordPress admin. If the domain is changing, access to your domain registrar too. Please create temporary logins and remove them after delivery. Your details are used only for this migration and never stored.
Which package do I need, and how do I check my site size?
Small is up to 1 GB, Medium up to 5 GB and Large up to 10 GB. To check, go to your WordPress dashboard, Tools, Site Health, Info, Directory Sizes. Not sure? Send me your site address and I will tell you which package fits.
Do you take a full backup before you start?
Yes. A complete backup of all files and the database is taken with UpdraftPlus before anything is touched, so there is always a safe way back.
Can you clone my website to a new domain?
Yes. I create an exact copy of your WordPress site on the new domain or server, with every page, plugin and setting, and update all links to the new address. Useful for a second brand, a new market or a fresh start.
Can you move my staging site to live?
Yes. I push your staging site to the live domain, update the database and links, and check that forms, logins and payments work on the live site before handing over.
Will everything look and work the same after migration?
Yes. Layout, plugins, settings and users stay unchanged. I test pages, forms, login and images on the new host. Anything broken by the move is fixed at no extra cost.
Can you move my emails too?
Yes. Email migration is available at $5 per mailbox per 1 GB of data. Before the switch I check the email records, so your email keeps working once the domain points to the new host.
Which hosting providers do you work with?
Any host I can get access to: shared cPanel hosting, managed WordPress hosting, cloud hosting and VPS servers. Tell me your old and new host in your message and I will confirm before you order.
Will my Google rankings be affected?
Moving to a new host keeps the same addresses and content, so Google sees the same site. For a domain change I set up 301 redirects from every old page, the standard way to carry your rankings and links to the new domain.

I kept getting errors when running the migration myself, so I hired Chirag who worked through the issues and was able to talk me through all the little details of setting it up on my local server. This personal attention to detail and extra time showed he was committed to getting the results I needed....
