Congratulations on finishing your story!
Kick back and relax while someone with fresh eyes does the leg work of your editing.
What exactly will be looked at and edited?
- Authenticity - phrasing and word choice
- Clarity and consistency of the "bigger picture" elements
- Repetitions, cliches, overwriting
- Exposition - chunks of background info
- Inconsistencies - things that don't add up
- Showing and Telling
Edits are done via 'track changes' on Microsoft Word.
What will be on the feedback?
Whatever needs significant improvement (i.e: character developments, plot holes, writing style etc...) will be noted. Most of the times, these are tips that can be carried onto your next writing adventure!
Feedback will be provided on a separate Word Doc.

FAQ
What makes you qualified enough to edit my story?
With a degree in Creative Writing and qualifications from courses with CIEP - a certified editing and proofreading organisation in the UK - I have ranged from being an editor and typesetter, to a managing editor in a variety of small projects. I know the importance of constructive criticism.
How will you edit my story?
I will use the 'Track Changes' feature on Microsoft Word. As you may have seen in the gig's gallery, it shows any direct changes to your story, as well as showing you my comments on the side. It's a time saving tool for you as you can instantly accept or reject my changes.
Do I need to fulfill the requirements?
Yes. The requirements are questions that will make my edits/feedback more focused as I steer you towards the right direction of what you need. It also asks for a Word Doc attachment of your story. Having this info from the get-go means less of your time is wasted, and I can crack on with the work.
How should I format and send my story?
One of my requirements involves you attaching a Microsoft Word Doc of your story. Once that is done, you won't need to do anything else except wait for me to deliver it back to you.
Do you use the American or British English?
Both! If you have a preference, let me know so I can edit with that in mind. If not, any switches between American and British English (ie: color/colour, -ize/-ise, sidewalk/pavement) will be highlighted for your awareness where you will decide which English you wish to use throughout your story.
