Do my users need to download an app or buy special hardware to use passkeys?
NOT AT ALL. Passkeys work with technology your users already have: Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone, fingerprint or face unlock on Android, Windows Hello on PC, or even a simple device PIN. No app download. No security key required. It works right in the browser, on any modern device.
For users with existing password accounts. Will switching to passkeys break anything?
NOT AT ALL. Full forced migration is rarely the right move. The standard approach is: add passkeys alongside your existing login system, so current users can enroll at their own pace while new users go straight to passwordless. I handle this transition carefully. Send DM, to see the outline steps.
