I work with researchers in humanities and social sciences. Here's an outline of the editing I offer in one, two, or three rounds. If you want to explore a custom fit for your article while trying my services out, ASK ME ABOUT A SAMPLE EDIT.
- In one round of light-touch proofreading, I correct errors and make suggestions for your final copy's consistency and accuracy. This is my Basic package.
- In my Standard two rounds, I first improve the language and style in your manuscript. I examine grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. I ensure you meet standards for publication style: APA, CMOS, MLA, or a journal's guidelines. After you have reviewed and revised through my suggestions and tracked changes in the manuscript, the second round consists of what I offer in my Basic package.
- In three rounds, I first point out how to address any basic issues in the structure of your paper. I then let you revise it and, in my second round, I work through it line by line to improve its language and style. I return the work for you to revise a second time. This Premium package includes a third round of checking for errors and making my final suggestions.

Yes, and you will receive comments and feedback along with the revisions I make as I read through. This is part of all three packages offered in this Gig. Feel free to point out specific passages for my most careful attention.

Yes, and I hope you will find more confidence in your continued writing after I have pointed out strategies for this concern. This work belongs especially to my Standard and Premium packages.

Will you be able to ensure that my manuscript's references and formatting match my target journal's requirements?
Yes—just point out the journal's guidelines and, for an additional fee, I will prepare each section of your article accordingly. See my list of Extras.
Can you recommend a journal for which my article would be suitable?
To some extent, depending on your specific field and intention with regard to impact factor and similar concerns. This can be included with my Standard and Premium packages.
May I see a sample of your work?
Yes. I have a related Service for sample edits, so feel free to start there.
If I have already ordered a sample edit, will you reduce your fee for editing the entire paper?
Yes I will. As long as you haven't introduced new writing in any of those passages I sampled, you may consider those passages already edited and paid for. Of course, I will be looking at them again as I move through the manuscript. :-)
Can you tell me about how you set your fees?
Certainly. These fees are calculated by the word, based on the Editorial Freelancers Association's chart of editorial rates. These are widely regarded as standard for the industry. (I am also a member of the EFA.)
