About this Gig

First off, a note on this Gig's pricing. It's based on your word count, at nine cents (US) per word. Don't hesitate to go ahead and place an order! However, we'll need to make sure the order reflects the length of your document :)
You're finishing a degree in humanities or social science. Congratulations! Once your thesis or dissertation is ready, I'll check for errors as follows:
- Review format and layout based on any guidelines you've been using
- Proofread the document and address errors (in grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, etc.)
- Point out any issues only you can resolve
- Add suggestions supporting your final copy's consistency and accuracy
This Gig does not cover extensive revisions to round out your argument. I will help to enrich the prose, or to make it plainer, but I must leave all substantive concerns up to you. I'll point out such issues if I see them, and I'll probably offer suggestions.
Basically, I'll ensure your manuscript is clean, free of any potentially embarrassing or troublesome mistakes. This way, I can help save you time when you have a deadline approaching. And I can help you find greater confidence as you submit your work and complete your degree!

FAQ
Can you make the logic and flow of my prose smoother, clearer, and less repetitive?
No, but you may find that some of my comments point out where revisions are required. For example, if it looks like something has been accidentally omitted from a sentence, I will point it out.
Can you improve the academic tone of my prose while also upholding my voice?
Not without a coaching session (see my Gig for such sessions). I can offer instruction and feedback through such sessions but, until your degree is complete, the writing is meant to be yours; my work on your pages must focus on errors, not improvements.
What do your clients say about the professional demeanor you show in your editorial commentary?
They say I am especially attentive and helpful, supportive and caring, professional, polite, gracious, respectful and suave; kind, thorough, quick, pleasant, and very nice.
Can you offer guidance when I need to respond to calls for revisions?

Will you be able to ensure that my manuscript's references and formatting match my university's requirements?
Yes. Just point out the university's guidelines and I will ensure each section of your article follows the guidelines.
Can you tell me about how you set your fees?
Certainly. These fees are calculated by the word, based on rates for proofreading as described in the Editorial Freelancers Association's chart of median rates for standard services. (I am also a member of the EFA.)
