Hello,
Well, congratulations if you have got to the stage in your writing where you are considering a beta reader!
It is my aim to read your words closely, offer a detailed critique and help you to make the story the best you can make it- always with encouragement and admiration. Please message me before purchasing a gig so we can make sure we are both happy with timings etc.
Having spent twenty-odd years in the book industry, I have witnessed many changes and trends, and have read through them all. I have gained knowledge and experience of the many aspects of bookselling, publishing and marketing. I love ideas and I love how words can express those ideas so uniquely. Watching and helping writers find their voice is a wonderful thing! As your beta reader, I will give feedback on:
- Author/narrator voice.
- Plot development.
- Pacing.
- Structure.
- Dialogue.
- Character development.
- Any specific requests/concerns you might have.
I'm happy to work with most genres. Message me with an outline or idea and I will confirm if I can help. I'm always happy to answer queries of any nature (on the subject of books/writing, of course!) so just ask.

FAQ
Do you read non-fiction?
I'm happy to read autobiographical work, but often non-fiction requires specialist knowledge. Message me if you would like further guidance.
Do you read all genres?
I read most genres, but I won't read something if I don't think I can add any value to it. Message me with some brief details of your plot and I will let you know if I can help (and I will be honest if I don't think I can!)
Do you read children's books?
Of course! All levels up to Young Adult. And if you have a rhyming picture book, I am in my element!
Do you have experience?
Only twenty-two years of it! I have read many first drafts and full manuscripts. I have studied English, and completed numerous publishing training courses. I have done editorial work, sold books in a bookshop, organised author tours and events, worked on marketing campaigns...
Do you offer full editorial services?
Not yet. I may add this service in the future. I do find, when reading, that I can't stop myself from making editorial comments! You will likely find that I offer a practical level of editorial commentary in the packages listed.
