At its base, an eval includes specific critique of your story from a bird's eye view. A few things I look for compelling/consistent characterization, cohesive plot, smooth pacing, organic dialogue.

I do light proofreading; however, this is not a full proofread, as it assumes a heavy amount of editing is still to come. Any proofreading feedback is focused on recurring patterns and author education so that mistakes can be avoided in the future.

In-line comments not only allow me to react to your story in real time, but they give me the opportunity to offer more granular critiques regarding very specific lines and plot points. Editorial letters, while referencing specifics in the story, is by nature a more distant feedback.
