It's very important to set the ground rules when we start about the level of critique; whether or not you want me to take a developmental editing approach and share ideas for improvement as well as observations. If you have any doubts or reservations let's do a 10K word trial run so you know I'm worth the investment and I know if I can make a worthwhile contribution in a reasonable time. I consider your voice to be the most important aspect of your book and will do all I can to preserve it unless you specifically ask me to help you find/define your voice. Among other aspects, I will advise you on worldbuilding, character development, action/conflict, pacing and prose style. I will evaluate and make suggestions about your opening chapter/hook and your ending. Although I am not a copy-editing whiz, I will point out bad habits and weak sentence construction and give you ideas about how to address them. I like to give scrolling feedback as I read through the book...first impressions of the opening and hook followed by feedback at various points through the book...prior to the final report.
