What do I need to provide?
SSH access (or provider console), the goal (harden only vs harden + basics), and any ports/services that must stay open. If data is important, say whether a backup already exists.
Which OS and hosts do you support?
Ubuntu and Debian on common VPS providers (Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Contabo, Linode, Vultr, and similar). Tell me the OS version and panel/console access you have. Other distros possible if SSH works and the goal is clear.
Can I get locked out of the server?
I keep a safe path open while changing SSH/firewall (second session / provider console). I only disable password/root login after key login is confirmed. You get short notes of every change.
Do you include Fail2ban / unattended upgrades / backups?
Basic packages include updates, SSH key hardening, firewall (UFW/nftables), and notes. Fail2ban, auto security updates, and a documented backup/restore are available as extras or a higher package — ask before ordering so scope stays clear.
Do you do Kubernetes or voice calls?
This gig is Linux VPS hardening and setup over chat/email. Kubernetes and live voice calls are out of scope; I work async in writing (Spanish native, careful written English).
