What files do I need to send to a laser cutting service like SendCutSend?
Most laser cutters require a clean, 1:1 scale DXF or DWG file with no overlapping lines or splines. I provide these exact factory-ready files in all of my packages.
Do you account for material thickness and bend radius?
Yes, absolutely. This is the most important part of sheet metal design. You tell me your material thickness and desired inner bend radius, and I will apply the correct K-Factor to the flat pattern.
Can you convert an existing 3D solid part into sheet metal?
Yes. If you have a solid CAD model (STEP) that you want to manufacture out of folded sheet metal, I can convert it, add rips/reliefs, and generate the flat pattern.
Will the DXF files have text or dimensions on them?
The actual DXF file for the laser cutter will be a clean outline only (to prevent cutting errors). I will provide a separate PDF blueprint that contains all the dimensions, text, and bend angles for your press brake operator.
Can you design custom weldments and tubular frames?
Yes! While this gig focuses on sheet metal, I also design structural weldments and tube/pipe assemblies. Please message me for a custom offer.
I only have a cardboard mockup of my bracket. Can you use that?
Yes. Unfold your cardboard mockup, measure the exact lengths of each section and the angles, and send me a rough sketch. I will turn it into professional sheet metal CAD.
