What do I need to provide to get started?
To start the migration, I will need two things: 1. Your GoDaddy account login details. 2. Your new WordPress hosting account login details (e.g., cPanel or your hosting dashboard). If you don't have hosting yet, I can recommend the best ones for WordPress.
Will my website go offline (have downtime) during the migration?
No, your live GoDaddy site will remain active. I perform the entire migration and redesign on a temporary "development" link. We will only make the new site "live" (with 5-10 minutes of minimal downtime) once you are 100% happy and have approved it.
What about my domain name? Do I have to move it from GoDaddy?
No, you do not! This is a common question. Your domain (e.g., yoursite.com) can stay registered at GoDaddy. Once the new site is built on your new host, I will guide you on how to simply "point" your domain to the new site. It's a quick and easy settings change.
Will I lose my Google rankings or SEO?
No, your SEO is my top priority! In fact, my goal is to improve it. As part of my service, I implement 301 redirects for all pages. This tells Google the new address of your content, ensuring you do not lose any rankings or traffic.
What about my content? Will you move all my pages and blog posts?
