What files do I need to provide for you to design the mold?
You can share any of the following: an existing STL, OBJ, or STEP file of your product; a 2D sketch or drawing with dimensions; clear reference photos of a physical object; or simply a written description with measurements.
Will you physically print and ship the mold, or is this a digital file only?
This gig delivers digital design files only — no physical printing or shipping is included. You will receive a print-ready STL file (and STEP/OBJ depending on your package) that you can take to any local 3D printing service or print yourself on an FDM or resin printer.
What types of molds can you design?
I design a wide range of mold types including single-part cavity molds, two-part split molds with locking registration keys, mold boxes for poured silicone, and multi-part molds for complex shapes. These cover applications like silicone casting, resin casting, chocolate, candle, soap, plaster.
Are the molds optimized for actual printing, will they come out correctly?
Yes. Every mold is designed with proper draft angles, wall thickness, parting line placement, and vent holes to ensure clean prints on both FDM and resin printers and easy demolding after casting. I focus on functional, production-ready geometry, not just visually nice models.
Can you design the mold from a photo of a physical object I already own?
Yes. Send me clear photos from multiple angles along with the dimensions of your object and I'll recreate it as a 3D model and design the mold around it. For best accuracy, include a ruler or scale reference in the photos.
