About this gig

Good tabletop games need solid ideas behind them. The board, cards, rules, player actions, and mechanics should all work together instead of feeling like separate pieces.

I work on board game and card game design, helping develop the gameplay structure, mechanics, components, and rules that make a game playable and easy to understand.

My work includes:

  • Board game design and development
  • Card game design and development
  • Tabletop game mechanics
  • Game flow, turns, actions and player interaction
  • Strategy, party, family, trivia and RPG games
  • TCG and CCG systems
  • Boards, cards and other game components
  • Card layouts, frames and card systems
  • Game rules and rulebook structure
  • Balancing, progression and gameplay testing
  • Playable prototypes and early game versions

Already working on a game? I can also help improve an existing prototype, tighten the mechanics, reorganize the rules, balance the gameplay, or develop unfinished parts.

I focus on making the game itself work first, then making sure its components support the experience.

Game design and illustration are where most of my work happens. I create board game and card game artwork, Steam capsule art, character designs, game assets, illustrations, book covers, and promotional graphics. My toolkit includes Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, with other digital tools depending on the project. I can work from an existing visual direction or help shape the look from the beginning. I care about the small things that make artwork work: composition, readability, consistency, and making sure the final piece fits the project instead of looking out of place.
