What's the difference between developmental editing and copyediting?
Developmental editing looks at the big picture: structure, pacing, character arcs, plot holes, or argument flow. Copyediting fixes grammar, sentence-level clarity, and consistency. If your manuscript still has structural issues, developmental editing should come first.
My manuscript isn't finished yet. Can I still send it?
Yes. I can work with partial drafts, especially if you want feedback on direction before you keep writing. Just let me know the word count and where the story or argument currently stands.
Will you tell me what's wrong, or actually help me fix it?
Both. You'll get an editorial letter explaining the core issues, plus in-line comments throughout the manuscript with specific, actionable notes, not just "this feels off."
What if I disagree with some of your notes?
Developmental editing is subjective by nature. My job is to show you where readers might struggle and why, not to rewrite your voice. You're free to accept, adjust, or push back on any note. It's your book.
