I exist in the gap between Eastern and Western aesthetics. I am Noah Wilson, an oil painter who is obsessed with Japanese ukiyo-e and modern anime aesthetics. Using the flat composition thinking of craft design, I eliminate the realistic volume sense of oil paintings and instead pursue the rhythm of lines and the decorative nature of flat painting. Through the integration of linen fabric, oil paints, woodblock prints, logic, and fluorescent colors, I create portrait works that combine Eastern charm, popular culture, and flat aesthetic. My paintings have no shadows; only the symphony of outlines and color blocks.
