What I Offer:
- Live Reading Sessions: In my 20 years as an English teacher I loved reading out loud to students, and I will bring that experience and enthusiasm to making text come alive for you.
- Real-Time Comprehension Checks: Throughout the reading, I will stop to ask questions, seek your thoughts, and ensure that you're comprehending and enjoying the work.
- In-Depth Analysis: Literary elements are my jam, and I am excited to help you learn to identify themes, symbols, and tone, and other tools authors use to create meaning in their writing.
- Interactive Discussions: I love talking about literature, and we will have great, fun, thought-provoking conversations about our readings that will help enhance your understanding of the text and your ability to analyze literature.
- Personalized Approach: We will read what you want: your interests will guide our learning.

Do I need to read ahead before our meetings?
Not at all! The beauty of our interactive sessions is that we'll explore the text together. While some clients enjoy pre-reading, many prefer the "fresh eyes" approach where we discover the story in real-time. Either way works perfectly fine—this is your literary journey!
What books can we work with?
Absolutely any book that interests you! Whether it's a classic you've always wanted to understand better, a contemporary novel you're curious about, or even a book you're reading for school or work—I'm here to help make that reading experience richer and more meaningful. What should I have ready for our sessions?
Just bring yourself, your book (physical copy, e-reader, or audiobook), and an open mind! If you enjoy taking notes, a notebook or digital device for jotting down thoughts can be helpful, but it's completely optional. I'll provide any worksheets or supplementary materials we might need.
What if I don't understand something in the text?
That's exactly what I'm here for! There's no such thing as a "silly question" in our sessions. Literary texts can be complex, and unpacking that complexity together is part of the fun. I promise a judgment-free zone where all questions are welcomed and celebrated.
Do I have to read aloud?
Absolutely not! While some clients enjoy practicing their reading skills through read-alouds, others prefer to listen. I'm happy to do all the reading aloud, we can take turns, or we can read silently at certain points—whatever makes you most comfortable.
What if I'm not good at analyzing literature?
You're better at it than you think! My job is to help you discover the analytical skills you already have and develop new ones through our conversations. We'll start wherever you are and build from there, with no pressure or expectations. Remember, this is about enjoying literature, not preparing fo
