Hello everyone, my name is Steven. Since the nineties I have been writing and recording music and with that experience I started my own recording studio: Sound From Underground. A studio below ground!
Right now I'm trying to work with artists around Amsterdam that want to record their material. I would love to record, mix, master or produce your music in such a way that you're completely happy with it.
I'd like to limit the amount of projects I'm working on, so I can give every artist my full attention and time.

What services do you offer?
I can record your music (drums, percussion, bass, brass, synth, guitars, violins, vocals, voice-overs etc.), mix, master and help you finishing your songs.
How much experience do you have?
Since the mid-nineties I have been recording, mixing and mastering music. Later I also did this for other bands and musicians. It turned out they liked my work.
Are you a musician?
Yes, I am. Since 1994 I have been playing guitar, singing, writing songs, played in different bands and formations. I played shows in The Netherlands and abroad. Right now I'm active with different projects: Earial (my own originals), Them Alone (originals) and Paranoid Creeps (Radiohead covers).
How does a recording session in your studio work?
When you come to the studio, I help to set up your gear, if you want and make sure the microphones are placed correctly and working optimal. When the artist is ready, we can start recording the first song. If you want, I can give you feedback about the song, if not, I will let you do your thing.
I just need a two-hour session, instead of the full six hours. Is that possible?
Yes, with a minimum of one hour, all durations are possible.
Why is there a variable price of mixing music?
Example: if a well-rehearsed songwriter plays and sings his/her three songs, mixing is fast. If a full band comes in that hasn't been practising, recording three songs can take a much longer time. Mixing (or repairing) all different instruments also takes more time than mixing the songwriter.

Do you use analogue gear and pro microphones in your studio?
Yes, I do. All recordings are analogue and also with mixing and mastering I use analogue gear as well as software. The studio uses a range of mics: tube, dynamic and small/large condenser mics.
How does the payment work?
Before the first recording session the artist pays 50% of the total amount. The other 50% is paid when the project is finished and artist is completely happy with the result. After this last payment, I will send the artist the high quality files.
