Copyediting focuses primarily on correcting grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling. I do offer heavy line editing in my premium service, where I will simplify your text so young children can read it. If this is not the type of line editing you're looking for, please seek a different editor.

Since Adobe doesn't provide users with the ability to change a document directly AND track those changes, I need to use markup tools and/or describe required edits in the Comments area of a PDF. This often takes extra time. Please contact me if your manuscript is in PDF before placing an order.

Yes. However, my services don't include heavy rewriting to improve meter and rhyme scheme for rhyming books. If you're looking for that sort of help, you will want to seek out a substantive editor or line editor.

Primarily because of copyright and confidentiality issues. Generative AI systems have been "fed" thousands of copyrighted works without the copyright holders' consent. If your text is uploaded into AI, then the AI may "spit out" pieces of your work to other users. I do all my editing manually.

I have chosen to edit creative works written only by humans. There are a host of privacy and copyright issues with generative AI. Additionally, it's important for authors to know that, at this time, work created with generative AI cannot be copyrighted in the U.S. and many other countries.

Not at this time. I work on drafts that are essentially complete and just need sentence-level edits for clarity, consistency, and correctness. If you'd like feedback on your plot/characters or require significant rewriting, please seek a manuscript evaluator or developmental editor first.

I confirm that I will keep your manuscript confidential if we agree to work together. However, my general policy is not to sign NDAs. This is because your book is copyrighted already as soon as you write it, and NDAs are not standard in the publishing industry.
