FAQ
What qualifies you to structurally edit my document?
I have a BA in French and journalism, an MA in publishing and creative writing, and I’m a contract editor for a major U.S. proofreading service and have structurally edited hundreds of documents.
What is a structural document edit (and what isn’t it)?
A structural edit focuses on organization, logic, flow, clarity, and overall effectiveness. It is not sentence-level copyediting, nor is it final-stage proofreading.
What types of documents do you accept?
Academic papers, essays, reports, business documents, proposals, presentations (text), website copy drafts, and other general documents.
What will I receive?
You’ll receive detailed in-line comments, restructuring guidance, formatting/organization support, and our proprietary Blueprint and editing checklist.
Will you rewrite my document for me?
I will not ghostwrite, but I will provide clear revision guidance and may offer sample rewrites of key passages to demonstrate improvements.
Do you follow APA/MLA/Chicago style?
Yes. If you specify a style guide (APA, MLA, CMOS, etc.), I will adhere to those conventions as I edit.
Will you check or fix my citations and references?
I can check citation formatting and consistency and flag missing or mismatched entries, but I do not verify sources or fact-check content.
How confidential is this?
My process is completely confidential. I won’t share or reuse your content (NDA available on request).
What do you need from me to start?
Your document file (Word preferred; PDF accepted), word count, dialect (US/UK/AUS), and any required style guide (APA/MLA/CMOS).
Do you accept AI-assisted documents?
I DO NOT accept AI-generated or AI-assisted ACADEMIC work. The basic use of grammar tools (e.g., Grammarly, ProWritingAid) is welcome. I DO accept AI-generated content for non-academic materials (e.g., marketing or web copy) without a defined author.
