An untagged PDF is silent to a screen reader. It reads the header on every page before the content, announces a price table as one long run of numbers, and skips your images entirely.
I fix that at the tag level in Adobe Acrobat Pro, without changing how your document looks.
Heading structure with no skipped levels
Real reading order, including multi-column pages
Alternative text on every informative image; decorative ones marked as artifacts
Tables rebuilt with header cells and scope, so a screen reader says "Unit price: 18.40", not "18.40"

Do you test with a screen reader?
I verify every file with PAC 2026, Adobe Acrobat's own accessibility checker, and by inspecting the tag tree directly. I do not run JAWS or NVDA testing. If your contract requires assistive-technology testing by a certified tester, you will need that separately.
Will my document look different afterwards?
No. Tagging changes the structure underneath, not the appearance. Fonts, spacing, colours and page count stay exactly as they were. That is the point: the accessible file has to be the same document.
What if my PDF is a scan with no text?
Then it needs OCR before anything else, and the result depends on scan quality. Send it over and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing or whether rebuilding the source is the better route.
How do I count my pages?
Count every page in the file, including the cover and any blank ones. If you are unsure, send the file and I will confirm the exact package before you order.
