About this Gig
Most Japan travel guides tell you the same 12 things. Meiji Shrine. Geisha. Ramen at some place with a line out the door.
I lived in Japan for eight years. I taught in Tokyo public schools, navigated the bureaucracy, built a life there. I know neighborhoods that don't make it onto blog lists, which regional passes actually save you money, and which ryokan reservations need a phone call in Japanese.
This gig is trip planning only where to go, what to do, how to get around. For flights on points, see my Japan + Points or Combined gig.
What I'll deliver:
-->Day-by-day itinerary built around your travel style and timeline
-->Neighborhood breakdown where to actually stay and why
-->Transportation guide: IC card setup, shinkansen logistics, JR Pass math
-->Honest picks for food and experiences including things worth skipping
-->Airport transfer, luggage forwarding, and seasonal timing advice
First time or tenth time, message me before ordering.

FAQ
Does this include help with flights or points redemptions?
This gig is trip planning only. For the points and flight strategy side, check out my Japan + Points gig or my Combined gig that covers both.
Can you help with places outside Tokyo?
Yes. I have experience with Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, Nikko, Tohoku, and rural areas. Tell me where you're thinking and I'll tell you what I know ....and what I don't.
Do I need to speak Japanese?
Not at all. I'll tell you what to say, where, and when, and flag the few situations where you might need help navigating language.
What's the best time of year to go?
Depends entirely on what you want. Cherry blossom season (late March–April) and fall foliage (November) are magic but crowded and expensive. Tell me your priorities and I'll tell you when to go.
