FAQ
How long until I can start operating?
A USDOT number is usually issued quickly after filing. MC authority becomes active once your insurance and BOC-3 are on file and the FMCSA's 21-day protest period has passed, so plan for about 3-4 weeks.
Are government fees included in the price?
No. The USDOT number is free, but the MC authority application fee and the UCR fee are paid directly to FMCSA and the UCR system. My price covers preparing and filing your applications.
Do I need insurance before applying?
You can apply for your USDOT and MC numbers first. However, your MC authority will not be activated until your insurance company files proof of coverage with FMCSA. I'll explain what coverage is required for your operation.
Do you file the BOC-3?
The BOC-3 must be filed by a registered process agent. I'll guide you through choosing one and make sure it's filed correctly so your authority can be activated without delays.
