AI translates Russian correctly and still sounds foreign. I fix that by hand. Russian is not a language I studied, it is the one I grew up in and was schooled in.
Three things a machine gets wrong every time.
Stress that changes the word. "Zamok" is a castle or a lock, spelled the same either way. Synthesis guesses by statistics, and it regularly guesses wrong.
The letter yo read as ye. "Svekla" instead of "svyokla", "shofer" instead of "shofyor". A Russian ear catches it in the first minute. A non-native reviewer does not hear it at all.
False friends taken literally. Accurate turns into "tidy", actual into "topical", magazine into "shop". Each one passes a grammar check and says something you never wrote.
You get your text back corrected, with a short note on every change. Not a silent rewrite: you see what was wrong and why, and you can overrule me.
