What do you need from me to start?
Two things. Your budget or target for the period, in Excel, Google Sheets or even a simple list, and your actual numbers, which can be a P&L export from QuickBooks, Xero or Excel. If you have no formal budget, send last year's actuals and I will build the comparison against that instead.
I do not have a budget yet. Can you still help?
Yes. Plenty of owners have never written one. I can compare this period against your prior period or your prior year, which answers the same question of what changed and why. If you want a forward looking budget built from scratch, message me first, because that is scoped separately.
What is the difference between this and a bookkeeping gig?
Bookkeeping produces the numbers. This gig explains them. I take figures you already have and show where you went over or under plan, which costs moved, where your break even sits, and what margin you are really making. If your books are not done yet, start with bookkeeping first and come back after
Will I understand the report, or is it full of accounting jargon?
You will understand it. Every variance gets a plain English line explaining what moved and by how much. The workbook is built on live formulas, so you can change a number and watch the whole report update.
How long does it take?
Budget vs Actual is 3 days, Quarterly Variance is 5 days, and 12 Month Reports is 7 days. If your line item count is above the package limit, message me before ordering and I will confirm a realistic date.
Can you do this every month as monthly management accounts?
Yes, and that is the best way to use it. Once the workbook is built, each new month drops into the same file. Message me after delivery and I will set up a recurring monthly offer at a lower rate than the one-off price.
Is my financial information kept private?
Yes. I work only from the files you upload, I do not need logins to any system, and I will sign an NDA on request. Nothing is stored or shared.
