My name is Phoenix Raig, a multiple-times nominated and award-winning editor and an Aurealis nominee. I've worked with independent authors, small publishing houses, and some clients with commercial contracts. I'm a co-founder of Precipice Fiction, a cohort of sci-fi and fantasy writers, and was one of six teachers for the Westwords Speculative Writing course, 2025 cohort, in Western Sydney.

FAQ
What is included in your Basic Package?
This is an editorial assessment, perfect for early drafting (around 60% through draft 1 or having just completed draft 1), when you're seeking early feedback and direction. Includes a detailed written assessment breaking the manuscript down across a number of key categories.
What is included in your Standard Package?
This is a standard developmental edit. Includes: - Section rewrite suggestions. - Structural rewrite suggestions. - A written literary assessment of the work. - An optional 2-hour post-edit video call (for projects 20k words or higher). Designed to help get your primary story beats in line.
What is included in your Premium Package?
We enter a bit of a manuscript mentorship. Includes everything from the Standard Package plus the following: - Feedback walkthrough (note-by-note Q&A). - Post-edit readthrough. - An additional 4 hours of call time (6 hours in total) to break up as we see fit. I'm along for the journey with you.
What software do you use for editing?
I use Google Docs for all of my editing. It's a free, easy-to-use piece of software that makes it simple to help clients across a large spectrum of software tools. Everyone has their favourite tool—I find Google Docs to be a good middle ground. If you have questions about this, please reach out.
Will my story be too different after working with you?
My aim is to help you tell YOUR story. I pride myself on my ability to transform a narrative while maintaining the voice of the author. Preserving your voice and the integrity of your story is the number one priority. I'll simply help you make the story clearer and more potent.
Why don't you offer an extra revision?
I'd love to offer an additional revision, but doing so would grow the prices quite a bit as it'd nearly double the work per order. The editor I worked with didn't include revisions either. However, after an order, we're available for any questions, ensuring next steps are clear and notes understood.
Am I limited to the word counts listed on the packages?
Nope! Those are just baselines. If your word count is different, reach out and I'll make you a custom offer.
You include Video Calls?
Video calls are an excellent tool for wrapping up a project. We can clear up remaining questions, talk about future plans, and build the editor-author relationship. These are included in the standard and premium packages for projects over 20k words and can be added for other projects as an extra.
