Hello!

My name is Phoenix Raig, a multiple-times nominated and award-winning editor and an Aurealis nominee. I've worked with independent authors, small publishing houses, and some clients with commercial contracts. I'm a co-founder of Precipice Fiction, a cohort of sci-fi and fantasy writers, and one of six teachers for the Westwords Speculative Writing course, 2025 cohort, in Western Sydney.

This one-on-one course is designed to help sharpen writing and storytelling craft.

Workflow:

• You'll come to our intro session (a 15-minute meeting prior to commitment) with a piece of literature you'd like to improve.
• I'll perform a developmental edit of said piece, and then, over the course of our sessions, on top of the homework, you'll be expected to work on this piece.
• I'll then perform a follow-up developmental review of the writing after our course.
• In 1 to 3 months (TBD), I'll check in on you to see how you're going.

Course outcomes:

• Understand storytelling structure and some structuring techniques.
• Feel more confident identifying ways a line can be made sharper and more effective.
• Employ punctuation techniques with more confidence.
