Most Cloudflare setups are half-done: the orange cloud is on, SSL is set to Flexible, the origin is still reachable by its IP, and caching is either off or quietly breaking the cart.
I run production sites behind Cloudflare and I debug it when it goes wrong, including the failures that look like Cloudflare and are not. Recently I traced an unreachable site that resolved fine in DNS and answered on its IP, and proved it was hostname-level filtering rather than routing or certificates by holding the IP constant and varying the TLS SNI.

- Full Strict SSL, not Flexible, because Flexible leaves the origin leg unencrypted
- Cache rules that respect carts, checkouts, logins and admin
- WAF rules and rate limiting that block bots without blocking customers
