What is Tauri and why use it for a mobile app?
Tauri 2 puts a web interface inside a native shell with a Rust core. You get one codebase for Android and iOS, a small install size and fast startup. If you already have a React, Vue or Svelte app, most of it can be reused.
Can you turn my existing web app into an Android app?
Yes, that is the Basic package. Your app needs to work in a mobile browser already. I add the native shell, app icon, splash screen and signing, then deliver the APK and AAB with the full project.
What does offline AI or local LLM mean?
The AI model runs on the phone itself through llama.cpp. After the model is downloaded once, the app needs no internet, there are no per-message API fees, and conversations never leave the device.
Which AI models can run on a phone?
Small open models in GGUF format such as Llama 3.2, Gemma, Qwen and Phi, from about 0.4 GB to 5 GB. The smallest run on phones with 3 GB of RAM. They are weaker than ChatGPT, so I will tell you honestly whether your use case fits.
Do you also build for iOS?
Yes, as an add-on. You need an Apple Developer account, which costs 99 USD per year, and I deliver a build you can upload to TestFlight. Android is included in every package.
Will you publish the app to Google Play?
I deliver a signed AAB that is ready for Google Play. Uploading it to your own Play Console account is an optional extra. Google charges a one-time 25 USD developer fee and reviews the app itself.
Do I get the source code?
Yes, in every package. You get the full project, build instructions and the signing setup, so any developer can continue the work without me.
Can the same app run on desktop too?
Yes. The same Tauri code can also ship to Windows, macOS and Linux. Desktop builds are available as an extra on any package.
