I will design or improve ttrpg systems and mechanics
Game Designer and Translator
About this Gig
Bring your tabletop RPG to life with rules that play smoothly and a world that feels real.
I'm a veteran TTRPG designer and writer (25+ years at the table) specialising in custom systems, mechanics, and worldbuilding from lightweight narrative engines to crunchy tactical rules.
You can hire me for:
- System Design: Core resolution mechanic, character progression, combat loop, resource economy.
- Worldbuilding Bible: Factions, regions, history, tone, playable hooks.
- Rules Writing & Editing: Clearer wording, faster table use, balance and consistency passes.
- Design Consulting: Honest, actionable feedback on your concept, pacing, and player experience
What You'll Receive
A clean, organised document (table-ready) with your rules written for real players not just lore.

FAQ
What do you need from me to start?
A short brief covering: genre and tone, target crunch level (rules-light to tactical), any system inspirations, your target audience (home table vs. publish), and where you are in the process (idea, notes, draft, playtest).
Can you work with an existing system (DND 5e, Pathfinder, PbtA etc) or only original engines?
Both. I can extend, hack, or balance an existing system, or design a fully original engine from scratch. Let me know your starting point in your brief.
What does and doesn't system design include?
Core resolution mechanic, character creation and progression, combat and exploration loops, key subsystems, and associated lore or worldbuilding as needed. It doesn't include graphic layout, illustration, or typesetting. Final delivery is a formatted document in your choice of format.
How do revisions work?
A revision means clarifying or refining what was agreed in the original brief, not adding new mechanics or sections. Significant scope changes (new subsystems, additional word count) require an updated order or add-on.
Do you include commercial rights or publishing licenses?
Standard packages include personal/table use. If you're publishing commercially (Kickstarter, paid PDF, studio production), please message me before ordering so we can scope the work and rights correctly.
Do you use AI tools in your work?
No, and I prefer not to. If you will require me to use AI tools in my work, we can netociate but all aspects of my work are written and designed by me.
What format will I receive my document in?
Your choice: Google Doc, Microsoft Word (.docx), or PDF. Let me know your preference when you place your order or in your brief.
Can you write a quickstart or playtest packet?
Yes, a condensed quickstart (stripped-down rules + pre-gens for 4–6 players) is available as a gig extra. It's a great way to test your system before committing to a full rulebook.
