FAQ
How will I receive the proofread of my website?
I will provide you with a report upon completion which will include details of the proofread and changes that are required. The report will include details of the location of the identified element, the existing text, the proposed new text, and an explanation of the change for each.
What format do you provide proofread text?
When proofreading word documents, I tend to use track changes, and provide you with two copies upon completion. The first is a clean copy with the new text, and the second is one with all the track change for you to see. I also work in various other formats, so if you have a preference, just ask!
What is the difference between proofreading and copy editing services?
Proofreading is carried out to identify and correct spelling, grammar, typos, punctuation and ensure sentence structure is correct. Copy-editing goes a step further to identify areas that could flow more naturally, or be phrased better to achieve greater clarity, readability, flow, or engagement.
Do you offer copy writing services?
No, I don't offer copy writing services. My proofreading and copy editing services are focused on working with your existing text and enhancing it through spelling, grammar, punctuation and suggesting changes to phrases or structure for example, not full re-writes or new researched text.
Can you proofread my book?
Yes, I do proofread and copy edit books. These don't generally fall into the standard pricing category as the word count would make it extremely expensive. So if you are interested in that service drop me a note and we can have a chat to see if I can help.
Can you proofread PDF documents?
Yes, I can proofread pdf documents. As you can't use track changes like you would with MS word to show the changes, recommended changes detailed within the comments section. If you wish an alternative process, please contact me to discuss and I can see what I can do.
What languages do you proofread and copy edit in?
I am a native English speaker based in the UK with a detailed knowledge of UK and US English. I provide copy editing and proofreading services in British English, US English, European English and International English languages working to the varied spelling requirements of each.
