Do I need to know the programming?
Yes, it would be best if you understood the programming well. Flink applications are mainly developed using Java and Scala, but Python API is now maturing as well.
Can I develop Flink applications if I have never worked with the distributed system?
It is good to have distributed system knowledge but optional. Generally, I explain the concepts before jumping into the more complex concepts.
Do you assist with the research of distributed systems around Flink?
Yes, I have researched and worked with a couple of clients to develop extensions in other distributed such as Apache Flink.
